Hugs from cousins hit different.

Maybe it’s the way they lock eyes first.
That split second of recognition.
Like their little bodies remember something before their brains do.

And then they run.

Arms wide.
Feet pounding.
Full body collision.

And you just stand there watching your heart melt.

Because it’s not just cute.

It’s regulating.

It’s two nervous systems saying,
“You’re mine.”
“I’m safe.”
“We belong.”

When they wrap around each other and squeeze tight, you can almost feel the exhale ripple through the room.

Shoulders drop.
Voices soften.
Giggles bubble up.

That’s not coincidence. That’s biology.

A long hug:
• Slows the heart
• Lowers stress
• Increases oxytocin
• Signals safety

No one had to say, “Take a deep breath.”
Connection did the breathing for them.

And if I’m honest?

It gets me too.

Watching those hugs does something in my own body.
It reminds me that love isn’t something we perform.
It’s something we fall into.

There’s something sacred about family embraces.
The kind where love isn’t questioned.
The kind where history and future are wrapped into one squeeze.

You can almost see the wiring happening:

“I can leave and come back.”
“I can grow and still belong.”
“I am held.”

And when the grown-ups hug too?

That’s the real magic.

Because our kids borrow calm from us.
They watch how we soften.
They feel when we settle.

So next time cousins wrap themselves around each other, don’t rush it.

The most beautiful evening celebrating @rebekahwisexo and my newest cousin @burnt_oranges!! Korbin danced from the moment he walked into the venue until he made an Irish goodbye and went to bed 😆. My heart is so full getting to spend quality time with my cousins and Korbin getting to be with his was absolutely incredible!!! Congratulations Rebekah and Bryce!! Thank you for including us in your big night!!! We love you!!!

This Halloween was an absolute blast, to infinity and beyond! 🚀 Our little Buzz Lightyear, Korbin, was so incredibly into trick-or-treating this year. Seeing his excitement and pure joy was the best part of the night. I was originally joking that we’d all go as cowboys since we’re in Texas, and then we actually ended up being cowboys! 🤠 Kelton made the perfect Woody, and I got to be Jessie, completing our Toy Story crew! We even made some new friends and met wonderful neighbors, making the whole experience even more special. It was truly a night of fun, laughter, and making precious memories with our little family. 🎃👻 #Halloween2025 #ToyStoryFamily #BuzzLightyear #Woody #Jessie #TrickOrTreat #FamilyFun #NewFriends #HappyHalloween #TexasHalloween #CowboyFamily

It's moments like these that truly bring home the profound gift of life. There were times in my youth when I struggled deeply with my own mental health and suicidal thoughts, and simply didn't want to live. The pain felt overwhelming, and navigating those challenges was incredibly difficult.

Just a few years ago, the world lost a beautiful soul, Viktoria, at the tender age of 13, to suicide. I watched her grow up; I babysat her, and her memory continues to fuel my passion for mental health awareness and prevention. Losing her was a stark and heartbreaking reminder of the silent battles so many face.

Being able to participate in the suicide awareness walk recently was an incredibly powerful experience for me. Sharing that day with my family, feeling their support, and walking alongside so many others who understand the importance of this cause, meant more than words can express. It was a day of remembrance, hope, and solidarity.

My absolute favorite moment in Corning was being able to extend that message of hope and awareness to our dear friends. Gifting them two of the walk's shirts as a welcome home present after petsitting for them felt like a small but significant way to honor Viktoria's memory and spread the message that every life is precious. It was a moment of connection and shared purpose that I will always cherish, and I'm so grateful to have shared that with them.

I am so incredibly grateful to be alive today, to have found my way through those dark times, and to be able to stand here, advocating for those who are struggling. ✨ 1:1 Coaching Spaces Are Almost Gone ✨

For years, I’ve had the honor of walking beside children, teens, and mamas. Holding space for their big feelings, asking the questions that open new doors, and offering calm tools that bring relief in the toughest moments.

But these 1:1 spots are limited, and once they fill, I won’t be opening new ones anytime soon.

Nobody showed up to my yoga class today. At first it stung, but I’m choosing to see it differently. 🌱

We all learned to walk by falling down a hundred times before we ever found our balance. Teaching is the same—I might wobble, I might fall, I might even stand alone in an empty room. But every stumble is proof I’m still brave enough to try.
